How to Get MAC Lipstick for Free

How to Get MAC Lipstick for Free

Everyone might have already known this but me, but you can get a free lipstick from MAC by just recycling used products! I was wondering around on the Internet one day and somehow came across a post about MAC's recycling program. After looking at MAC's website, if you recycle SIX products like foundation, concealers, blushes and certain tubes then you get a free lipstick.

I was a bit skeptical because that just seemed a little too easy. There's always a catch, right?

I've been using MAC products for about a year now, so I had a few empty bottles (six to be exact) that I kept to see if this easy, peasy free lipstick recycle program was true. In Little Rock, we don't have a free-standing MAC store, but we do have a MAC counter inside of Dillard's.

You have the option online to mail in products and choose a lipstick, but I actually didn't know which color I wanted so for me it was better to go inside a store/counter.

The makeup artist at the MAC counter was SO nice - as soon as I told her I had six products she said, 'You can choose from any of the lipsticks that have the black bottom and silver top." My face must have said it all because it there were SO many choices. I was expecting the lipsticks that they were discontinuing... She helped me pick out a color that was right for me.

So which one did I pick? I went with Captive by MAC

This is a really beautiful color, and I didn't have to throw any used products away, I got to recycle them. It's a win for my lips, and a win for the environment.

Have you ever heard of the MAC recycle program? Which lipstick should I get next time?

  3. I've seen my friends do this but somehow still didn't believe it was real! I've been saving my MAC powder empties for like 2 years (They last me so long somehow?!?) and I just need one more to get the free lipstick! This post reminded me that I'm almost there :) Thanks for sharing!

    1. I just toss the used ones in a MAC bag until there are 6! Then it's free shopping time.

  11. hey girl! it's brittanyqt from Twitter. I never comment on blogs so I'm not quite sure how to post with my name. anyway-- Love your blog! Fellow Arkansan here :) Have you heard of makeupalley.com? I don't buy anything health or beauty related without looking at it first. For example, for picking out a mac lipstick, you just sort by best sellers, and it will tell you the average rating. If you like a color but are unsure how it wears, makeup alley has all of the reviews. I even sort it by my skin type, age, etc!! They have an app, too.

btw, the back to MAC program is amazing. you can use eye shadow compacts for the free lipstick as well. what I do (learned from a YouTuber) is depot the shadows and BAM :)

I haven't done it in awhile as I've recently been loving various brands only found Sephora-- but it used to be 6 empty eye shadows. I buy the 4 slot empty palettes from mac online (FYI if you want anything MAC, and don't mind waiting a few days to get it, you can order online and not have to pay tax!! it has reviews too) (ha.. I am sounding like a combo of a MAC employee and a promoter of makeup alley here) :D I'm not, promise!! just wanted to pass the little tips on to you! Oh and for makeup alley, I always look there for mascara reviews especially. I check reviews for literally every beauty product I buy. Apparently others do too, as I was in the Chenal Walgreens looking at the new makeup releases, and an employee in that department said "makeup alley?" haha... It's amazing. sorry for the mini novel!! I did read your post about the Sephora makeup classes, and I think I am going to do it!! :)
