Southern Blondie: Style

Classic #NSale Items You Have to Buy!

It's one of the most exciting times of the year! It's the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale where you can get the best deals on fashion and beauty! I do MAJOR damage every year with this sale, but I also am so thankful throughout the fall/winter for these investment clothing pieces.

The sale has started now for anyone who has a Nordstrom card, and then it will be available to the general public on July 21. If you don't have a Nordstrom card, I suggest adding the items you want to your cart so you can get them ASAP on the 21st!

Never, ever calling buying clothes simply, 'shopping.' Call it, 'Investing.' Why? Because it's better to save $$$ now than spend MORE later. Here are my picks for the BEST classic pieces that you can invest this year in the #NSale:

Classic #NSale Items You Have to Buy

3. BP Tee w/Pocket (SO many colors!!)

Why did I pick these pieces? Because they will be the most versatile throughout the year. The pumps you can wear with dresses, jumpsuits or jeans! The boots will be SO CUTE with skinny jeans and one of the BP. Tees!

And just for fun... here are a few more options. I bought these Trouve faux leather leggings last fall and I LOVE them. I just bought this fun Topshop sweater on the sale! Paired with these fun BP booties and it's a eas fall outfit.

Are you shopping the #NSale this year? What are you buying?? (Not like I need more things to buy, but, hey, it's investing, right?!)

Styled by Stitch Fix Review

One of my absolute, favorite things in the whole wide world is shopping. It doesn't matter if it's for groceries, house decor, or clothes. Another one of my favorite things is when things just show up at my door. Recently, Stitch Fix offered to send me a free fix and there was no way I could say no to that!

Now for a little show and Stich Fix tell...

I received this KUT FROM THE KLOTH Callie Denim Jacket from Stitch Fix, and I LOVE it. I've always been a fan of a denim jacket, whether they are in style or out of style, to me they are just comfortable.

Next, was this 41HAWTHORN Lilou Ruffle Neck Blouse. Navy is one of my favorite colors to wear all year round. This top would be great for wearing in the hot Arkansas summer, OR, layering for the fall with a cute denim jacket!

This skirt will surprise you on how comfortable it is because it's so stretchy! I love the fun pattern on this MARGARET M Bethana Skirt

So when I pulled out this STATEMENT Shaena Wrap Dress my first thought was, eh. After I put it on I was IN LOVE! It's so soft, comfortable, and I think it's really flattering. It's also navy.

This 41HAWTHORN Juanis V-Neck Blouse already looks great with a skirt that I already own! I think that's why I'm such a fan of clothing services like Stitch Fix. You can try on different clothing pieces with pieces you already own!

What did you think of my fix from Stitch Fix? What was your favorite piece? Overall I was REALLY happy and impressed with this fix! I take back my words of saying that I was forever done. For $20, it's still so much fun to receive a box of clothes, especially when you can usually buy all five items for under $250!

If you haven't tried Stitch Fix, now is the time! Please use my referral link if you do.

DIY Chalk Painted Dresser Makeover

There seems to be one thing on my mind lately ... and one focus on the blog. House updates. I promise I'll get back to sharing other things soon, but for today, I wanted to share this SUPER EASY dresser makeover.

When we bought the house last fall, we (mostly me) agreed that one of the spare bedrooms should be turned into a closet. As in, the entire room is used as a closet. It actually wasn't as hard of a sell as I thought it would be. Rich uses the closets downstairs in the master bedroom, so I am using an entire room as a closet upstairs. It's taking some time to pull together because I'm trying to do it all on a budget.

So one of my first budget-friendly finds was this dresser  I found on a Facebook yard sale site for $40. I knew it would need some updates and new drawer pulls, but it was the perfect size and height for the space in the room.

The dresser was painted in a light blue color had a bit of a glittery feel to it and that felt a bit adolescent to me. The easiest way to update the dresser was using chalk paint. I had never used chalk paint before but decided to try the Rustoleum's Chalk Paint because it was so cost friendly. I thought why not give it a try!

If you look at the top two drawers, you will see that there are holes for two pull out handles. These handles were an awkward size and I decided I wanted to update the dresser anyway so I caulked the holes with nail hole filler.

The nail hole filler applies in a pink color and then it dries white. Once it dried it's easy to sand down to be even with the drawer. You can't even tell there was ever even a hole!

We moved the dresser out on the patio so I could lightly sand over the top and the sides. It's not required, but there were a few spots I wanted to make sure were even from the previous paint job. Once sanded, I wiped off any dust from sanding and it was time to start!

I used the Rust-Oleum Chalked Ultra Matte Paint in Linen White. Once the paint was dried, I gave the dresser two coats with the Chalked Protective top coat in Matte Clear

Here's what the Linen White looks like when you open the can. It is in fact, white.

The dresser and the drawers were given two coats of the Linen White Chalk Paint. Once dried, then two coats of the protective top coat. The top coat looks like watered down milk but goes on clear. It also dries clear but just provides a bit of shine to the painted dresser.

And, ta-dah!

I added new hardware, a larger lamp, and the closet room is now nicely pulling together! It's amazing how easy the Rust-Oleum Chalked Ultra Matte Paint was in transforming this once blue dresser to a bright, clean white.

It's DONE!

The office re-do is FINALLY done... or at least for now. It's been a few months since I've done any office update, but I am SO excited to show you the progress I have made!

If you remember, the last time we were here I was asking which curtains to choose for the room. Well, the popular vote won! For those who may not remember...

THE HOME OFFICE BEFORE

OK. Now for the drumroll, please!

Home Office Makeover
The cow head and the small wooden cabinet were both found from a Facebook garage site!

This is one of my favorites rooms in the house right now (probably because it's DONE)!

Here are a few house details:
  • Mirrored Frames - TJ Maxx/Home Goods
  • Peacock Allusion Cabinet (TV cabinet) - Pier1
  • White Desk - Target
  • White Chair - Office Max
  • White Curtains - Home Goodes
  •  Rug - Target
The paint is by Sherwin Williams in color Georgian Bay and lightened it 25%.

There are a few things I still want to do, get new lamps, change out the fabric on the papasan chair, and get a few more trinkets, but overall, I am very happy of how this room turned out.

On to finish the next room!

Trunk Club Review

It's Trunk Club time! If you haven't seen my posts before here's a little recap:

Trunk Club, owned by Nordstrom, is a personalized clothing service that delivers clothing, accessories, and shoes to your door in a cute box. There is a new, initial styling fee of $25 that goes towards the cost of any item you may buy from the trunk. However, if you have a Nordstrom debit/credit card then that fee is waived!

After you signup, you're assigned a personalized stylist. This is the best part to me - you have your own stylist who will chat with you via the Trunk Club app, online, phone or email. My favorite way to talk to my stylist is via the app. Your stylist will ask you a bunch of questions of your style, what you're looking for and what events are coming up.

TRUNK CLUB REVIEW

It's Trunk Club time! This is my FAVORITE styling service... except I am not sure I can pull off a crop top.

Lelani Off the Shoulder Top by cupcakes and cashmere

I really wanted to like this crop top but it was just too short.

Who doesn't LOVE white skinny jeans? These are such a great fit!

Crossover Top by Eliza J

This top was also SO cute, but I just wish it wasn't so short!

Drape Front V-Neck Sleeveless Blouse by Vince Camuto

Now, THIS, is a great top for spring/summer! It's also on sale!

Carina Print Silk Blouse by Equipment

This is another great, versatile top! It's really so handy to have someone send you cute clothes.

Ruffle Shift Dress by Felicity & Coco

This dress is SO CUTE, too! I know I keep saying that about everything, but for a wedding, an event, or just a night out, it's perfect!

WOMEN'S HALOGEN TAYLOR ANKLE SKINNY PANTS

These are my favorite new work pants. They are comfy, look great with heels, and make you feel super skinny!

TRUNK CLUB REVIEW FINAL THOUGHTS

Trunk Club is still my absolute favorite clothing service. As someone who loves to shop but tends to buy some of the same things over and over again, I love receiving a box of clothes to try on in my own home.

There is a cost of $25 to receive a trunk, but honestly, it's worth it to me. I'm able to speak to someone about what I like/need/want, she sends me 10 items in the mail that I have five days to try on. If you have a Nordstrom credit/debit then that $25 is waived!

Also, if you buy anything then the $25 is just credited to your total. Win-win.

If you're thinking about signing up, please use my referral link. Trust me, this is the best clothing service out there.
